Of interest to alPHa members who deal with the public is that the Ontario Superior Court (OSC) has recently recognized a new tort of ‘harassment in internet communications’ meaning that employers and individuals now have a legal remedy and can sue for damages resulting from suffering or harm caused by harassment on social media and other internet platforms.
TransformTO is Toronto’s new and ambitious climate action strategy. Unanimously approved by City Council in July 2017, TransformTO lays out a set of long-term, low-carbon goals and strategies to reduce local greenhouse gas emissions, and improve our health, grow our economy, and improve social equity.
This report produced by a collaborative of Ontario's 7 Northern public health units provides health professionals working in northern Ontario with a background on the health impacts of climate change relevant to the region. By identifying and describing notable impacts of concern, this report serves as a first step to understanding the complex, interconnected and far-reaching challenges climate change poses to human health and will assist public health units in northern Ontario to undertake vulnerability and adaptation assessments to prioritize evidence informed action.
