					| THAT the Association of Local Public Health Agencies petition the government of Ontario to review the current process for development and adoption of Mandatory Health Programs and Services Guidelines within the Health Protection and Promotion Act and replace it with a process to establish health goals and objectives for the province of Ontario and subsequently set requirements and standards for all government ministries and government-funded agencies that are comprehensive, complementary and effective in promoting the health of Ontario residents in light of the provincial goals and objectives. |

					| NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) urges the Governments of Canada and Ontario to honour the First Ministers’ Commitment to Canadians by vigorously pursuing an Ontario Healthy Living Strategy and National Immunization Strategy;
 AND FURTHER THAT alPHa actively monitors and shapes health care renewal and prevention in
 Ontario as outlined above, including the development of position papers and other instruments as and if required;
 AND FURTHER THAT the Prime Minister of Canada, Premier of Ontario, federal Minister of Health and Ontario’s Minister of Health and Long-Term Care are so advised.

 AND FURTHER THAT the federal Minister of Health, President, CIHR and Ontario’s Minister of Enterprise, Opportunity and Innovation are so advised.

					| NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes and the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing are urged to amend the National Building and Fire Codes and the Ontario Building Codes, respectively, such that maximum hot tap water temperature in the home is reduced to 49ºC;
 AND FURTHER THAT the federal Ministers of Health, Industry and Transport and Ontario’s
 Ministers of Health and Long-Term Care and Municipal Affairs and Housing are so advised.

					| NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Public Health Division and the Commissioner of Public Health be urged to improve their communication to and collaboration with Ontario's public health professionals by including alPHa in discussions of provincial public health policy and practice;
 AND FURTHER THAT the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care be urged to meet with alPHa to
 discuss a process to improve information exchange among alPHa members, the Ministry, the
 Commissioner of Public Health and the Public Health Division;
 AND FURTHER THAT the member organizations of alPHa be so advised
