COMOH Central West Representative: Dr. Andrea Feller

A paediatrician and public health physician, Dr. Feller is board-certified in both paediatrics and preventive medicine, and received her MD degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  Following medical school, Dr. Feller completed her paediatric residency at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children and went on to train in preventive medicine and public health at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, serving as chief resident of her preventive medicine residency program. 
Dr. Feller joined the Niagara Region Public Health department as Associate Medical Officer of Health (AMOH) in August 2006.  As AMOH, she concentrates her efforts in the areas of chronic disease prevention and family health. She also practices part-time in general paediatrics. Dr. Feller’s passion is to ensure children and families have the best chance for the healthiest future by promoting and supporting optimal development; especially social-emotional. 

As such, she has recently co-authored a Continuing Medical Education course on Early Child Development for the Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) on behalf of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) as a member of the CPS’ Early Years Task Force. Dr. Feller co-chairs the Healthy Human Development Table for Public Health in Ontario, and the Public Health Early Years group.  She is an active member of the Council of Medical Officers of Health (COMOH) executive and the Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) board of directors, Dr. Feller believes that when sector leaders work as a team, everything is possible.
