Public Health Professional Exchange Pilot Project

Partnering with

Are you a public health professional that’s interested in increasing your skills, strengthening your understanding of approaches used in other organizations and building your networks?

You’re in luck. alPHa and Public Health Ontario have collaborated to create a public health professional pilot program that will commence in Spring 2018. We are accepting applications until November 30, 2017 January 5, 2018.

We are seeking volunteers who currently work in public health to be a part of this pilot. If you’re not ready to be part of a formal exchange, but want to learn more, consider joining our working group, which is also seeking volunteers. To be considered for either the working group or the pilot project, you should have identified specific goals and interests, a host organization in mind and a supportive home organization.

What is a Public Health Professional Exchange?

A Public Health Professional Exchange provides a hands-on professional development experience, where participants will have hands-on, short-term work experience in another organization. This opportunity will allow them to strengthen skills and networks, gain exposure and understanding of approaches used in other organizations. Ultimately, it is hoped such exchanges will build the capacity of our public health system. This opportunity is open to staff at all levels.

Working Group

The working group will convene in January 2018. Working group members could be personally interested in an exchange, be representatives from organizations that would like to learn more, or join to support staff participation. Working group members will provide guidance, evaluate outcomes, identify needs or changes required for any future exchange initiatives and develop recommendations.

Deadline – November 30, 2017

Please email your expression of interest for either the pilot program or the working group by November 30, 2017 January 5, 2018 to Susan Lee (susan@alphaweb.org).

Your expression of interest should include:

·         The name of the manager from your organization who approved you for either the working group, pilot, or both

·         The name of the host organization you would like to work with

·         Some of the objectives you would like to achieve in the pilot
