At every alPHa Annual General Meeting, delegates are invited to consider resolutions proposed by members for action by the Association through its Advocacy and Standing Committees. These resolutions are debated, amended if necessary and voted on. If passed, the resolution becomes part of the Association's ongoing advocacy efforts on healthy public policy.

Once carried, the alPHa staff works closely with the alPHa Advocacy Committee to prioritize and develop strategies to move action on the resolutions forward. As a first step, the Committee ranks each of the year's resolutions under four priority levels, which determine the nature and frequency of advocacy activity.

Each of alPHa's active resolutions has been categorized under the menu headings on the left side of this page. By clicking on these headings, you may view related resolutions and a history of actions on each. You may note that in addition to the title, each resolution also carries an alpha-numerical identifier, e.g. "A06-1" where
"A" is for alPHa
"06" identifies the year that the resolution was passed
"-1" identifies the resolution as the first one considered for debate at that year's AGM. It has no other significance.
Some categories may contain no active resolutions, but remain areas of particular interest to public health (e.g. tobacco control, determinants of health). New developments may be posted in these areas even if they are not directly related to a current Association Resolution.
As alPHa's advocacy activities are not limited to issues identified in resolutions, we also encourage a visit to our Online Library, which contains more information (presentations, correspondence and position papers) on a range of public health issues.
