Russ Fortier

Russ Fortier, of Emo, situated on the bank of Rainy River bordering Minnesota, served as Reeve of EMO Township for five years. Previously, he was owner/operator of a tourist resort and Band Manager, General Manager and Co-Manager of various First Nations in Ontario and Manitoba. He was also a manager with Bell Canada for 30 years. Russ’s community involvement includes the Emo Library, Emo Chamber of Commerce, Rainy River District Museum, and the Northwestern Grant Review Team.  

In 2004, Russ was appointed to the Board of Health for Northwestern Health Unit, which he has served for the past 8 years. He has participated on a number of committees on the board, notably the Executive Committee (2011-present), Finance-Audit Committee, and the Strategic Planning Working Group.
