Boards of Health (BOH) Section Chair, Julie Roy is
a Public Appointee to the Northwestern Health Unit Board of Health (2002-). She
has been Vice-Chair and is current Board Chair (2013-). She is a long-time member
of the standing Finance-Audit / Executive Committee; and served on the ad hoc
Constitution Review Committee (2009-2010). During Julie’s recent years on the
Executive, the Board undertook extensive organizational restructuring; and
completed a long-term strategic plan (2013-2016) that focuses on improving the
health status of the region via enhanced area partnerships and collaborations. Julie
shares the Board of Health’s conviction that effective, ongoing public health
promotion and disease prevention programs and services, and healthy public
policies, are crucial components of a long-term solution to address rising
health care costs.
Julie is a
regular attender at alPHa meetings and events and participated on an alPHa
panel discussion on boards of health structures in June 2006. She appreciates
the opportunity that membership to alPHa’s Board of Directors provides, to participate
and contribute to alPHa activities at an in-depth level.
Recently retired from Canada Post, Julie is enjoying family activities and pursuing personal interests. She is an accomplished quilter and gardener, and contributes to several community activities and groups.
