For over 20 years, Suzanne's career in public health has been marked by increasingly senior administrative positions. Currently the Senior Director, Administration and Operations at Eastern Ontario Health Unit, her background as a dental hygiene educator led to her initial positions in the Healthy Children Program and subsequent portfolio of Public Health Programs at the health unit. She is a highly skilled manager of change and crises, having helped steer the health unit's recent restructuring as well as its effective response to H1N1 several years ago. Since 1997, Suzanne has been a member of the Association of Ontario Public Health Business Administrators and has sat on the Executive Committee for the past seven years. Her expertise and guidance is frequently sought out by the province. Suzanne is presently a member of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's Public Health Performance Management Working Group that provides advice and direction on strategies to implement public health performance management framework in Ontario. She was also recently appointed to Public Health Ontario's (PHO) SRKE Advisory Committee which provides input and advice to PHO on its program to support health units to address applied research, program evaluation, education and professional development, and knowledge exchange functions. A long-time advocate for competency-based performance management, Suzanne is a champion of accreditation for public health, leading her health unit to become the first stand-alone health unit in Canada to become accredited by Accreditation Canada.
