Boards of Health Section
With a background as a registered nurse working in research, Beth is a dedicated and enthusiastic municipal supporter of public health. She has served on the Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) Board of Health for over a dozen years and has been its Chair since 2003. During this time, Beth contributed to several provincial consultations on behalf of KFL&A, including the Capacity Review Committee, which reviewed the organization and capacity of local public health units for the province's Operation Health Protection plan. Locally, she has represented the Board and the KFL&A Public Health agency in a variety of issues, often lending strong support to the management, staff and programs of the agency. Her unwavering dedication to public health is further exemplified, when as a past municipal appointee and recent Order-in-Council appointee, she requested membership on the Board of Health—a testament to her firm belief in the value of public health. Beth understands the relationship between health, economic well-being, and access to local services and is greatly committed to improving the lives of Kingston residents through her activity in many community groups that advocate for better services. These have included the Seniors' Association Planning Committee, non-profit housing boards, Focus Kingston Community Strategic Plan Steering Committee, and the Community Roundtable on Quality of Life.
