COMOH Sugar Sweetened Beverages Working Group
Share |
Purpose

There is a growing recognition that consumption of sugar contributes substantially to increasing rates of chronic disease.  Sugar-sweetened beverages represent an important component of sugar consumption, and generally have little to no nutritional value.  Several policy options exist with the potential to curb consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages.  This work group will aim to:

1.    Identify evidence-informed options for reducing consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages within a comprehensive nutrition strategy

2.    Share evidence and experience about strategies to advance these policy options

3.    Provide support for related initiatives at the local, provincial and federal level where relevant, and identify potential partners for enhanced support

4.    Provide input into related COMOH/alPHa deliberations and advocacy
