Position: Most injuries are preventable, and programs aimed at reducing them are effective ways of reducing disability and mortality caused by falls and other traumas. While public health units deliver programs based on narrowly defined obligations in the Mandatory Health Programs and Services Guidelines, other strategies aimed at reducing the rate of injuries in Ontario may be implemented through the policies of other Ministries of Government, including Labour and Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Please clike here to read A08-8 - Ensuring the Effectiveness of Graduated Licensing as an Injury Prevention Strategy: THAT the Association of Local Public Health Agencies recommend to the provincial government that any changes to the graduated licensing program be accompanied by enhanced education and enforcement May 1 2009 Bill 126, the Road Safety Act is passed into law, making several amendments to the Highway Traffic Act that are aimed at novice drivers. November 18 2008 Minister of Transportation James Bradley has introduced Bill 126, the Road Safety Act, which will make several amendments to the Highway Traffic Act, including "tougher penalties for novice drivers that increase with each violation of graduated licensing restrictions". It also imposes a longer learning period that will increase the minimum learning time required for full licensing from 20 to 30 months.
